Had an amazing opportunity to shoot this cute little bundle of joy on her 1st birthday. Doljanchi is a traditional Korean ceremony to celebrate when their little ones turn 1 years old. In ancient Korean history, the child mortality rate was really high, so when a child reaches 1 years old, it was a good omen. During this ceremony they would celebrate, bless the child and wish for prosperity and good fortune. There is a traditional segment where the child wears a “hanbok” and “jobawi” and choose an item from several items on the floor. These items would represent several paths in life and they include a stethoscope for a doctor, money for riches, a ball for athlete, microphone for entertainer, an item for long life and book for scholar. The results from Zoe’s doljanchi were very exciting as she picked the path of a doctor and a rich husband as her future significant other. Congrats to the entire family, thank you Zoe, Esther and Jay for allowing me to be part of such an exciting and personal life event.
